Abstract: What are the functions of imitation in primitive culture? Traditionalexplanations of it are largely in aesthetics. This thesis explores from culturalanthropology the great functions of imitation in primitive material productionand spiritual construction. Imitation also plays a very important part in promoting the beginning, formation and development of primitive moral consciousness.
